Top-seeded Dominic Thiem of Austria rallied to reach the quarterfinals of the Rio Open, but second-seeded Dusan Lajovic of Serbia was eliminated in second-round action Thursday at Rio de Janeiro.

Thiem came from behind to beat Spain's Jaume Munar 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4 after Italy's Lorenzo Sonego edged Lajovic 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5).

After dropping a first set that featured no service breaks, Thiem fell behind 2-0 in the second set before surging to the finish. He broke Munar's serve three times in the second set and twice in the third, including the match's final game.

Sonego had a set point at 4-5 in the first set before finally prevailing on his third set point of the tiebreaker (his fourth set point overall). The Italian captured the final three points of the second-set tiebreaker to seal the match.

Also advancing to the quarterfinals were fifth-seeded Borna Coric of Croatia and Italy's Gianluca Mager. Coric will next play Sonego, and Mager will square off with Thiem.

Delray Beach Open

Second-seeded Milos Raonic of Canada fired 11 aces while beating Germany's Cedrik-Marcel Stebe 7-5, 6-3 in the second round at Delray Beach, Fla.

Raonic moves on to a quarterfinal matchup against Steve Johnson, who won an all-United States matchup with Jack Sock, 6-4, 5-7, 6-1.

Sixth-seeded Ugo Humbert of France eliminated Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 7-6 (6) to advance to a quarterfinal meeting with Frances Tiafoe. In another all-U.S. showdown, Tiafoe got past Tommy Paul 7-5, 7-6 (4).

Open 13 Provence

Belarusian qualifier Egor Gerasimov pulled off the upset of the day, beating third-seeded David Goffin of Belgium 6-4, 7-6 (5) in the second round at Marseille, France.

Gerasimov, who is ranked 72th in the world, broke Goffin's serve on all three of his break points. He moves on to a quarterfinal matchup with seventh-seeded Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, who slipped past Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-0, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (9).

Auger-Aliassime squandered a match point in the second-set tiebreaker, and Herbert couldn't take advantage of five match points in the third set.

Top-seeded Daniil Medvedev of Russia, Gilles Simon of France and Denis Shapovalov of Canada also booked spots in the quarterfinals.
