RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Corinthians have reached a deal to sign Ecuador international midfielder Juan Cazares from their Brazilian Serie A rivals Atletico Mineiro, according to widespread local press reports.
The 28-year-old will travel to Sao Paulo to undergo a medical on Wednesday after the clubs agreed to financial terms, the Globo Esporte news outlet said on Tuesday.
Cazares, capped 21 times for Ecuador, has made 205 appearances and scored 41 goals for Atletico Mineiro since joining the Belo Horizonte outfit from Argentina's Banfield in 2016.
But he has fallen out of favor under Atletico's current manager Jorge Sampaoli and has not played for the club since March.
Corinthians, one of Brazil's most successful and popular clubs, are currently 13th in the country's top flight standings with just three wins from 10 matches this season.
