UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday welcomed the continuing ceasefire in and around Nagorno-Karabakh, saying the world body stands ready to provide humanitarian support to all impacted civilians.

"The secretary-general takes note of the Dec. 3 joint statement on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh by the heads of delegation of the OSCE (the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Minsk Group Co-Chair countries," said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN chief, in a statement. ACCRA -- As Ghana's general elections approach, the majority of people have expressed confidence that the elections will be held peacefully.

LOS ANGELES -- About 25,000 residents have been evacuated due to a wind-driven wildfire occurring near Irvine City in southern California, local fire-fighting authorities said on Friday.

Currently, some evacuation orders have been lifted by Friday morning as winds are expected to decrease through the weekend, the Orange County Fire Authority said in Twitter. (US-California-Fire)

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian police said Friday that they have arrested 11 wildlife traffickers and rescued about 200 animals set for illegal sale.
