BEIJING, April 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

ULAN BATOR -- Mongolia registered 889 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and five more deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the national counts to 22,884 and 55 respectively, the National Center for Communicable Diseases (NCCD) said Monday.

Meanwhile, 524 new recoveries were reported over the same period, raising the total recoveries to 12,401, the NCCD said in a statement.

NEW DELHI -- India's COVID-19 tally surpassed the 15-million mark, reaching 15,061,919 on Monday, showed the latest data by the federal health ministry.

There was an increase of 273,810 COVID-19 cases during the past 24 hours. This is the third consecutive day when the country witnessed a single day spike of over 250,000 new cases.

Besides, as many as 1,619 deaths took place since Sunday morning, taking the death toll to 178,769.

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentina on Sunday reported 16,267 COVID-19 infections and 65 more related deaths in a day, bringing the national tallies to 2,694,014 and 59,228 respectively, said the country's health ministry.

Currently, the country has 270,615 active cases and 2,364,171 patients have recovered.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazil's COVID-19 death toll on Sunday reached 373,335 after registering another 1,657 fatalities, the country's ministry of health reported.

According to the ministry, another 42,980 cases were registered, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 13,943,071.

SEOUL -- South Korea reported 532 more cases of COVID-19 as of midnight Sunday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 114,646.

The daily caseload was down from 671 in the previous day, falling below 600 in six days owing to fewer virus tests over the weekend.
