RIO DE JANEIRO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Strikers Pedro and Gabriel Barbosa scored either side of halftime as Flamengo won 2-1 at Santos in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.

Pedro struck from close range in the 18th minute before Vinicius Zanocelo equalized with a low free-kick.

Gabriel netted the winner with a low left-footed finish following a counter-attack in the 73rd minute.

The result lifts Flamengo to seventh in the 20-team standings with 21 points from 15 matches, eight points behind leaders Palmeras. Santos fell to eighth with 19 points.

In other Brazilian top-flight matches on Saturday, Athletico Paranaense won 2-0 at Palmeiras, Internacional drew 1-1 at Ceara, Fluminense prevailed 4-0 at home to Corinthians and Atletico Mineiro won 2-1 at Juventude.
